Rita Zhou-Wang joined our lab as a REU student for the year 2025 from Oxford, Ohio. She is researching synthesizing graphene monomers and ball milling mechanochemistry. She used to work in a lab on antibiotic resistance and in a lab on polyphenols. In her free time she likes to play video games, ice skate, and drink tea.

Acyn joined our lab as a high school summer scholar in 2025 and he attends the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science and he is a rising senior. In the future, he would like to pursue a degree in chemistry, and this laboratory experience is only confirming his interest in it and helping his to decide what he would like to specialize in. In his free time, he likes hanging out with friends, playing video games, and sleeping.

Sarah is from Utica, Mississippi and she completed her undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Ole Miss. She is interested in researching different methods of organic synthesis, like ball-milling mechanochemistry as opposed to solution-based chemistry. Currently she is studying in the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), School of Dentistry.

Mallory is originally from Olive Branch, MS, and she pursued her B.S in chemistry . Before working in this group, she worked for three years as a member of the Delcamp Group, where she synthesized organic dyes for photosensitizers such as dye-sensitized solar cells. Outside of lab, she loves to read, watch tv, and hang out with her friends! Additionally, she works with SMACS as the vice president and volunteer with the Oxford Community Market! Currently she is working as a graduate student at the Duke University.

Lucas joined our lab as a REU student for the year 2024. He is originally from Edmonds Washington and currently living in Portland Oregon. He received his Associates of Arts degree from Edmonds College in 2022 and transferred to the University of Portland to complete his undergraduate studies. His personal research interests are in the organic synthesis of small molecules, particularly in medicinal chemistry, as well as the synthetic planning for producing larger molecules using organic synthesis. When he is not in the lab he likes to play spike ball, cook interesting recipes he finds online, and work on large projects with Lego bricks. Currently he is working as a graduate student at the Oregon State University.
